SEASON OF MOTHERHOOD | part 2

Welcome to Artifact Motherhood. This is a collaboration of artists from around the world who have come together to share our stories of the joys and struggles in our journeys. Through our writings and photographs, we want to create memories that are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artifacts we are leaving behind for our children and for generations to come. The intention and idea for this months post as a group is creating one picture that represents your current journey/season of motherhood.
I thought to put a photo of us in masks, serious faces. Because a lot of days life feels like that for me. So many unknowns in our future. So much fear due to the fact that one of them is high risk. But to be honest it’s not that way for them. They’re together, at home. They’re running around our property, playing and imagining things that inspire me daily. They’re flourishing. And so I need to focus on that; their experience in this pandemic is truly what matters. On Mother’s Day, after a hike with our goats, I requested they take a few photos with me. They were silly and hilarious and this photo was our outcome – and I cherish it so much. <3

I LOVE that you chose a happy, joy-filled image! There has been enough seriousness and fear and anxiety and its so lovely to see people still enjoying life and finding joy and moments of happiness during this uncertain time. Their two expressions are just wonderful. Love this x

“Flourishing” is such a great word to use and I see it in your photos and makes me so happy that they have each other and space to spend during this difficult time.
